2024 United Chinese Americans National Youth Convention

Representatives of the Asian American Voters Association were honored to receive an invitation to showcase our organization at the 2024 United Chinese Americans (UCA) National Youth Convention!

The 2024 UCA National Youth Convention saw the largest gathering of Asian American youth in the country, with almost 40 youth-led organizations traveling from all over the country to participate. During the opening ceremony, Erika L. Moritsugu, President Biden’s AAPI Affairs Commissioner, Congressman Ted Lieu, and Gene Wu, and Maryland State Delegate Lily Qi were present to offer their congratulations. The conference included five themed sub-conferences focused on youth, mental health, AAPI political action, community building and civic engagement, and entrepreneurship and career development.

In their time outside discussions, our Asian American Voters Association youth delegates had the opportunity to visit 283 congressional offices – more than half of the House’s 425 representatives. In conversations with Representatives, our delegates focused on real estate purchase restrictions, growing anti-Asian sentiment, and the lack of Asian American history in U.S. high school curricula. The second and third days of the conference featured 20 forums with more than 50 guests, providing attendees with engaging discussions and collaborative sessions.

Sharing our organization’s cause on the national stage was truly an honor and privilege. On behalf of the AAVA, thank you to the 2024 UCA National Youth Convention, and to UCA President Haipei Shue for inviting the Asian American Voters Association to join this worthy cause.
